Teens’ deaths leave family, school reeling
Bolingbrook stunned by crash that took 3 lives
By: Jason George and Hal Dardick
"As the final bell rang at Bolingbrook High School on Monday, many students started reveling in homecoming week--preparing campaign posters for the queen and her court or anticipating the evening's powder puff football game.
But less than 2 miles away and just 10 minutes before that final afternoon bell, the story was much different for three teenagers.
Two seniors and a former student died after the roof of their Nissan Maxima was nearly peeled off as the car slid under a semi-tractor trailer as it was turning on winding and well-traveled Remington Boulevard. Dick Willix, 62, of Addison, who reported driving upon the scene seconds after the accident, found the two passengers--Javier Moraira, 18, and Nayeli Murillo, 18--in the vehicle, clearly dead, and driver Luis Vega, 18, thrown eight to 10 feet from the car, fading fast."
