Interstate
77, I-77 is 611
miles long starting in Columbia, South Carolina and crossing North
Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and terminating in Cleveland, Ohio. In
Cleveland it intersects with Interstate 90. The 162 mile long portion of
I-77 in Ohio passes through the cities of Canton, Richfield,
Brecksville, Independence and Akron. I-77 has four Interstate
interchange in Ohio and they are: I-70 in Cambridge, I-90 in Cleveland,
I-80 in Brecksville and I-76 in Akron. A Spur route, I-277, is a
connector route to I-76 just outside of Akron to the south.
Although signage is sparse, except in Ohio, I-77 is also known as the
"Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway?. I-77 was designed to replace the
old U.S. Highway 21 between Cleveland and Columbia, known as one of the
best north-south corridors traversing the Appalachian Mountains.
