Interstate
76, Beginning at an
interchange with Interstate 71 about 15 miles west of Akron, Ohio I-76
runs east for 435 miles to Interstate 295 near Camden, New Jersey. From
Akron, Ohio east, I-76 joins the Ohio Turnpike. I-76 takes a sharp dip
south around and just before passing Youngstown, Ohio at the
intersection of I-76 and I-80. The traffic pattern used to accomplish
this interchange is a complicated ?double trumpet? design that even with
proper signage is a bit challenging to drivers who encounter it for the
first time. The Ohio portion of I-76 is a small 82 mile stretch.
The bulk of this interstate runs through rural areas of Pennsylvania and
Ohio and was designed to keep the entire length of it away from large
urban areas. If you are looking for a nature drive with few billboards
or populated areas then I-76 is the road of choice as it is mostly
barren with very few exceptions, mostly at the Philadelphia and Camden
New Jersey end.
