Jury award for Shavertown man's neck injuries

WILKES-BARRE - A Luzerne County jury took about two hours Thursday to award a Shavertown man $400,000 for injuries he suffered in a car crash in Kingston Township more than four years ago.

The accident happened on Carverton Road at the entrance to Frances Slocum State Park on Aug. 19, 2002, when Matthew Rusak turned into the path of a car driven by John Novitski Jr.

Novitski suffered severe neck injuries in the crash. The jury awarded Novitski $300,000 in damages and $100,000 for future loss income.
