Settlement for Lackawanna County Woman in Medical Negligence Case

A confidential settlement has been reached in a complex medical negligence case pending in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas. Attorney Matthew A. Cartwright, of Munley, Munley & Cartwright, Scranton, announced the $5,000,000 settlement on behalf of a woman who had been misdiagnosed by several physicians and hospital emergency rooms. As a result, according to Mr. Cartwright, she suffered catastrophic injury, and brought suit against the defendants, whose identity Mr. Cartwright declined to reveal, pursuant to the terms of a confidentiality agreement. The settlement was funded by several medical liability insurance carriers, as well as the Pennsylvania Medical Catastrophic Fund.
