Jury verdict for Clarks Summit Woman

Wilkes-Barre -- Wednesday, February 11, 2004 -- a federal jury in Wilkes-Barre yesterday took about three hours to award Tara Koval Mason, of Clarks Summit, $1,300,000.00 for injuries she sustained in a May, 2001 accident on Interstate 81. Both vehicles were traveling northbound near the Avoca exit when the defendant tractor trailer driver, driving a Sheehy Transport 18-wheeler, suddenly changed lanes into the left lane where Ms. Koval Mason was driving. She was pushed into the median strip and sustained injuries and aggravations of a prior back condition. The plaintiff went on to require two back surgeries.

Representing the plaintiff was Attorney Marion Munley, of Munley, Munley & Cartwright, Scranton. The insurance company for Sheehy Transport was represented by Lenahan & Dempsey, Scranton. The Honorable A. Richard Caputo presided over the four-day trial.
