 NATIONAL BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCATES

The National Board of Trial Advocates - The National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) is a non-profit organization located in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1977, NBTA is dedicated to bettering the quality of trial advocacy in our nation's courtrooms and assisting the consumer of legal services in finding experienced and highly qualified trial lawyers. NBTA is accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) to certify lawyers in the specialty areas of civil, criminal and family law trial advocacy.

NBTA' s areas of certification are civil, criminal and family law trial advocacy. The standards set forth by the Board of Directors are challenging and meaningful. NBTA is a voluntary certification. It is not a requirement to practice law and, therefore, any lawyer who has taken the extra time and effort to achieve this credential can be justifiably proud. A consumer of legal services who chooses an NBTA member can be sure of obtaining a highly experienced trial law practitioner.

In order to become a member of this elite group of trial attorneys, an attorney must undergo an exhaustive screening of their credentials, including: documentation of their experience, judicial and peer references, as well as a day long exam. The attorney's ethical standards are also examined by the Standards Committee of the NBTA. A candidate's willingness to undergo this process illustrates a dedication to achieving an maintaining a high standard of practice. IN order to retain membership in the NBTA, an attorney must maintain an active trial practice and is required to resubmit his or her application for certification at the end of each five-year term.

Munley, Munley & Cartwright is proud to have six trial attorneys as members of this elite organization. They are: Robert W. Munley, Marion Munley, Matthew A. Cartwright, J. Christopher Munley, Daniel Webster Munley and Julia K. Munley.
