After motorcycle-truck wreck, 2 call for help: 1 to God, 1 to 911

"CROSS KEY? When residents responded to a Wednesday night wreck near their neighborhood store, one called for help while another turned to God on behalf of the man thrown from his motorcycle.

"When I got to him, I could tell he was still breathing," said one neighbor who didn't want to disclose his name.

"I fell over him and started praying. That's all I knew to do."

Another resident called 911.

The wreck occurred at 6 p.m. on Easter Ferry Road in the triangle that Easter Ferry, Edgewood and Cross Key roads create around Mama Bear's convenience store and restaurant in Limestone County.

The motorcycle and a pickup hit head-on, said Assistant Coroner Andy Jackson.

Jackson identified the motorcycle driver as Randall Barksdale, 49, of Edgewood Road.

Troopers were not releasing the truck driver's name. The truck had a Limestone County tag.

John Gordon, who was visiting a relative on Easter Ferry, responded to the scene and heard the truck's driver yell, "Call 911! Call 911!"
