Julia K. Munley Admitted to Practice Before the U.S. Supreme Court

Local Attorney Julia K. Munley, recently received notification on behalf of the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States that she has been granted admission to practice before the Supreme Court and that she is now a member of the bar of that Court and Officer of the Court. Attorney Munley is a trial lawyer specializing in civil litigation of personal injury cases with her family's law firm, Munley, Munley & Cartwright, P.C.

Attorney Munley has litigated and argued numerous cases before the trial and appellate courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania since her admissions in 1992. In 2001, she was admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit where she has argued.

Ms. Munley is a past president of the Association of Women Lawyers of Lackawanna County and current Treasurer of the Association. She is currently a Board member of the Northeast Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers of America, the Federal Bar Association, Lackawanna County Bar Association and Luzerne County Law and Library Association.

In 2004 Ms. Munley was recognized for her dedication and commitment in providing pro bono legal representation to an emergency rescue worker injured in the World Trade Center disaster before the September 11th Compensation Fund through Trial Lawyers Care presented by Trial Lawyers Care and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America at the American Trial Lawyers Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts.

Attorney Munley received her undergraduate degree from Marywood University and her Juris Doctorate Degree from Dickinson School of Law in 1992 where she was distinguished for meritorious service as a member of the Dickinson Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. Following law school, she served as a Law Clerk to The Honorable Stephen J. McEwen, Jr. of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.

Julia K. Munley is the daughter of The Honorable James M. Munley, United States District Court Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and Dr. Kathleen P. Munley, a Professor of History at Marywood University. She resides in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Attorney Patrick M. Rogan.
