TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK ACCIDENTS & INJURIES

Interstate 95: Starting in the far northern reaches of Maine in the city of Houlton, I-95 makes its beginnings out of New Brunswick Highway 95. This is the one of two places where an Interstate and its Canadian extension have the same route number. Over 1900 miles later, it ends in the beautiful subtropical climate known year ?round in the Florida city Of Miami. It enters the state of Florida at the Georgia state line, the Saint Mary?s River crossing. I-95 passes through the major Florida cities of Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Titusville, Fort Pierce, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and ends in Miami.

In Southern Florida, I-95 originally followed the Sunshine State Parkway (known today as Florida's Turnpike) in a temporary capacity from the Golden Glades Interchange north to near Fort Pierce. This 110-mile section was opened to traffic in 1957.New sections of the turnpike opened in 1964 and extended the route north to Wildwood and in 1974, south to Homestead. . The final section of Florida's Interstate 95 opened December 19, 1987. Then Governor Bob Martinez drove a 1929 Ford Model A on the new roadway during the dedication ceremonies as this $222 million project ended. I-95 is the best known, most important and most heavily traveled Interstate Highways in the entire national interstate system and this Section of I-95 in Florida is no exception.Starting in the far northern reaches of Maine in the city of Houlton, I-95 makes its beginnings out of New Brunswick Highway 95. I-95 has a lot of nicknames along it 1926-mile length. East Coast?s Main Street is a common designation. The Snowbird Highway is also popular as people from the cold wintry northeast use it as an escape to Florida. It?s also been called the Vacation Expressway as many well known and sought after vacation destinations lay along it north ? south path. The highway is also an important factor in commerce as well as tourism. I-95 links historic and scenic New England with the subtropical environment of southern Florida. It passes through more states than any other Interstate highway system, and has more ?spur? routes than any other interstate. Florida alone has five spurs or beltways (I-195, 295, 395, 595, 795 and 895) and they generally are longer than those found on other interstates. In addition to the spur routes, I-95 also has junctions with Florida's Turnpike, Interstate 4 and Interstate 10. Interstate 95 in Florida is part of High Priority Corridor # 49, the Atlantic Commerce Corridor.

Of the 14 service areas along the 382 miles of Interstate 95 in Florida, the first one at milepost 375, and accessible to southbound travelers only, is also the Florida Welcome Center. In addition to the usual amenities of public rest rooms, tourist information, public telephones and an RV dump station; this rest stop also provides a picnic area with barbecue grills.
