TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK ACCIDENTS & INJURIES

Interstate 75: I-75 is similar in its intent to that of I-95; this highway, however, makes its way down the western side of the state of Florida. Its total length of 1,786 miles is spread through six states, but the beginning and ending states have the bulk of the roadway. Michigan is home to the northern half of I-75 with 396 miles within its borders while Florida has the largest share at 470 Miles.

Interstate 75 covers a basic North ? South path that runs
from the Midwest to the southeastern United States until it hits the lower section of Florida where it makes a radical turn through the everglades and heads east in an almost perfectly straight path. It travels from Marie, Michigan at the Ontario, Canada border to Florida State Road 826 (Palmetto Expressway) and Florida State Road 924 (Gratigny Parkway) in Hialeah, Florida (just west of Miami).

This limited access highway planned in the 1950s roughly follows the general route of many older at grade highways, including U.S. Route 2, U.S. Route 27, U.S. Route 25, U.S. Route 41 and others. Some of these older U.S. Routes are still in existence. Others replaced the eastern route of the old Dixie Highway.

The final stretch of Interstate 75 was completed in 1986 in Dade (present Miami-Dade) and Broward Counties in Florida. However the final stretch to receive the I-75 designation was a revamped Everglades Parkway Alligator Alley in 1993. It is this parkway that makes the last leg of I-75 that runs the coast to coast (east to west) corridor from Naples to Miami. The Alligator Alley section west of Fort Lauderdale, Florida is one of only two sections of I-75 that are tolled. The other is in Michigan.

Interstate 75 serves the Floridian cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg, Gainesville, Ocala, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples and Miami.

For most of its length in Florida, Interstate 75 is unsigned Florida State Road 93. The lone exception is in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area, where it is unsigned Florida State Road 93A. This is because SR 93 was designated along the original I-75 routing. When the Interstates were renumbered, the state route designations were not changed to match.

I-175 and I-375 are very brief Interstates that go east into downtown St. Petersburg, while I-275 goes into downtown

Tampa, using the Howard Frankland Bridge into St. Petersburg. I-75 then heads south across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, reconnecting with I-75 in Manatee County, Florida.
