Fecal Occult Blood Test: A chemical test that can detect blood in a bowel movement, a symptom of colorectal cancer. A sample of stool is examined for blood.

Fine-Needle Aspirate: A procedure in which a needle is inserted, under local anesthesia, to obtain a sample for the evaluation of suspicious tissue.

Fistula: An abnormal opening between two areas of the body.

Fractionation: Dividing the total dose of radiation therapy into several smaller, equal doses delivered over a period of several days or weeks.

Frozen Section: A technique in which tissue is removed, quick-frozen and then examined under a microscope by a pathologist.
